Product Review: Jubilee Clip – Mild Steel

Jubilee Clip

When it comes to securely fastening ducting or hose systems, Jubilee Clips are a go-to solution for many of our customers. We’ve been supplying these mild steel worm drive hose clips for years because they’re strong, simple to use, and consistently reliable in demanding environments.
These clips are ideal for ducting installations, HVAC systems, ventilation setups, and even automotive or agricultural applications where a robust clamping mechanism is needed. We’ve recommended them on everything from flexible aluminium ducting to insulated hoses and even lightweight metal pipework.
The 6MS model covers diameters from 110mm to 140mm, making it perfect for medium-sized ducting connections. But we offer a full range of sizes to fit just about any setup.

What We Like Most

These clips are a firm favourite with our warehouse and workshop customers. They’re fast to install and hold their grip well, even in slightly awkward or misaligned joins.
Key Benefits:

  • High Clamping Force – Thanks to the worm drive mechanism, the band tightens evenly and holds securely.
  • Mild Steel Construction – Durable and cost-effective, ideal for general use in dry environments or where stainless isn’t essential.
  • Wide Adjustment Range – Each size covers multiple duct or hose diameters, reducing the need for holding multiple clip types on-site.
  • Reusable – Can be undone and re-used multiple times, which our customers appreciate for temporary or flexible installations.
  • Easy to Fit – Works with a flathead screwdriver or socket for quick adjustments.

A lot of the trades we work with prefer these over cheap imports because they’re more reliable, especially when dealing with higher airflow or slightly pressurised systems.

What Could Be Improved

As with any product, there are a few limitations worth mentioning:

  • Not Stainless Steel – These clips are mild steel, so they’re not suited for use in wet or corrosive environments. For outdoor or moisture-prone areas, we’d usually recommend a stainless steel version.
  • Flat Band Edge – While that’s great for not damaging flexible ducting, it may not bite quite as firmly on certain types of rigid pipe.
  • Limited Use in Food or Chemical Environments – Not suitable where hygiene or chemical resistance is required.

Still, for standard ducting installations, they do the job brilliantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What tools do I need to tighten a Jubilee Clip?
A: A flathead screwdriver works fine for most jobs, but many of our customers use a nut driver or socket for quicker installation, especially in tight spaces.
Q: Can I re-use a Jubilee Clip?
A: Yes, these clips can be undone and re-tightened multiple times, provided they haven’t been over-tightened or bent out of shape.
Q: Is this clip suitable for insulated ducting?
A: Yes – in fact, many of our customers use them on pre-insulated ducting. The smooth band prevents tearing or compressing the outer jacket.
Q: What’s the material? Is it rust-proof?
A: These are mild steel, so they’re durable for indoor use but not rust-proof. If you need a corrosion-resistant option, go with stainless steel.

Alternatives

Depending on your setup, here are a few alternatives we often recommend:
Stainless Steel Jubilee Clips

  • Better suited for wet, outdoor, or corrosive conditions
  • Slightly more expensive, but longer lasting

Quick Release Duct Clamps

  • Ideal for temporary systems or frequent changes
  • Faster to fit but often more costly and bulkier

Plastic Duct Clamps (for light-duty use)

  • Lightweight, non-corrosive
  • Only suitable for small, low-pressure ducts
