A solid choice for reducing machine noise and vibration
We’ve worked with a wide range of workshops and manufacturers over the years, and one thing they all have in common is the constant need to reduce noise and vibration from their machinery. The TICO S Anti-Vibration Mat is one of the most dependable solutions we’ve found for that. Whether you’re dealing with a noisy compressor or a floor that rattles every time a lathe kicks in, these mats help dampen vibration right at the source.
This particular size, 100mm wide, 1000mm long, and 14mm thick, is one of the most versatile options. It’s compact enough to be cut to fit smaller bases, but long enough to handle larger machinery if needed.
Why it’s popular with our customers
TICO mats are designed to handle the realities of modern manufacturing. The mat is made from a mix of cork particles and durable elastomer, which gives it excellent load-bearing and vibration-dampening qualities. It can hold up to 50 tonnes per square metre, resists water, oils, and cutting fluids, and works in temperatures from -40°C to +100°C.
Here’s what our customers tend to like most:
- Cuts down noticeably on machine noise
- Reduces vibration across a wide range of equipment
- Can be cut to size easily with a sharp blade
- Doesn’t require bolting if bonded to the floor, which saves time and avoids drilling
- Suitable for everything from generators and compressors to power presses, guillotines, and conveyors
- Can be bolted if needed, using TICO washers and collars
- Easy to reposition machinery thanks to flexible installation
We’ve had customers use these in workshops with very limited floor space, and the feedback is always positive, quieter, more stable machines, and less wear and tear over time.
Installation options: bolt it or bond it
You’ve got two ways to fix these mats to the floor:
- Bolt-down method: Just drill through the mat and use TICO washers and collars to anchor the machine securely.
- Adhesive method: For most jobs, we recommend TICO Contact S, it bonds well to both concrete and steel. For heavier-duty needs, Tiflex Marine 2 is the go-to.
We often advise customers to go with the adhesive method if they want to avoid damaging the floor. It’s quick, strong, and keeps options open for future layout changes.
A few things to keep in mind
The TICO S Anti-Vibration Mat is incredibly durable, but it’s best suited to flat, solid surfaces. We wouldn’t recommend using it on heavily uneven flooring unless it’s been levelled first. Also, if you’re using extremely heavy machinery over a very small footprint, you may want to opt for the thicker versions or double up.
Otherwise, it’s one of the most cost-effective ways we’ve seen to improve machinery stability and operator comfort.
