FAQ

What is a connection piece?

A connection piece is a component used to join different parts of a ducting system together.

What material is a connection piece fabricated from?

All metal connection pieces listed on our shop are made out of galvanised steel. However, we are able to provide this in stainless steel. The most common grades of stainless steel are 304 and 316 grade, and these are made to order. Please contact the team to discuss your requirements further.

Which connector would I use to join two pieces of spiral together?

You would use a male connection piece. And this applies if you were trying to connect a length of spiral to a piece of flexible ducting.

Which connector would I use to join two fittings together?

You would use a female connection piece to connect fitting to fitting. By fittings we mean 90 degree bends, 45 degree bends, concentric reducers, T-pieces etc.

How do I fasten the duct work together?

For fastening without the need for any pre-drilled holes, we advise our customers to use self-drill screws. Once you have decided on a method of fastening the duct work together, you'll need a sealant. We would advise using duct sealant, which is a water-based sealant and will provide a permanent seal whilst withstanding a reasonable amount of vibration. You could also use cloth tape or foil duct tape. Please see our ''How To'' video - How to connect spiral ducting.
