FAQ

What are pneumatic blast gate dampers?

Pneumatic blast gate dampers are automated dampers that are used in dust extraction and ventilation systems to control the airflow within the system. Instead of manually operating the damper, the pneumatic dampers use compressed air and a pneumatic cylinder to automatically slide the gate open or closed.

In what scenario would you use a pneumatic blast gate damper?

A pneumatic blast gate damper is ideal for ducting that is difficult to access or where the blast gate dampers are installed too high for manual operation. It is also an excellent choice for systems that require automated operation.

What voltage can you offer these dampers in?

We can offer these dampers in the following voltages:

  • 24V AC
  • 24V DC
  • 110V AC
  • 240V AC

We can also offer a manual pneumatic lever, which can be used to control a single pneumatic damper or to operate two dampers in sequence.

There is also a pneumatic controls kit, which is a solution for managing airflow in systems with more than one dampers. You can configure it to open one damper, whilst closing another, or to control multiple dmapers from a single point.

What material is the blast gate damper made from?

The body is made from die-cast aluminium, and the blade is typically zintec steel. If your system handles more aggressive or corrosive materials, there’s a 316 stainless steel blade option too.

Do the blast gate dampers provide an airtight seal?

Unfortunately we do not offer any dampers which can provide an airtight seal. The blast gate dampers are highly effective at closing off sections within the ductwork to divert maximum suction of active machines. There will be a percentage that can still leak through where the gate slides or around the blade.

How do you install a blast gate damper?
