For connecting two pieces of ductwork together, one of the most important components in a Nordfab duct system is the QF Clip. The Quick-Fit clip features a generously dimensioned sealing gasket held firmly in place by positive over-centre clamping action over the rolled edges at the duct ends to be joined. For added security, a locking pin may be inserted.
Another important fitting is Nordfab’s Slip Duct. These allow you to quickly adjust the length of your duct run because, of course, it is highly unlikely that your duct run will be the exact length of multiple components together. Not sure how to install a slip duct? Watch a short video here.
Sometimes, specialist components are needed, like for explosion protection. In such cases, ATEX certified CARZ valves are available. They are designed to prevent the effect of a pressure wave and flames caused by an explosion from returning along the pipework in which it is mounted. Available with flange or QF rolled edge for connection to various duct systems. Suitable for transporting explosive dust of class St1.
Advantages of installing a Nordfab CARZ Valve:
- Prevents devastating effects of a dust explosion from spreading
- Simple and robust construction
Another type of fire prevention for dust extraction systems comes in the form of an In-line spark trap. These can be installed in ducting as part of a dust collection system, the Nordfab In-line Spark Trap greatly reduces the possibility of fire in cyclones / collectors by decreasing the number of sparks which could reach the cyclone or collector through the ductwork. This is a simple, low-cost tool that can reduce incidents of fire events, reducing costs and disruption and improving safety. System redundancy and complementary measures should be applied.
