FAQ

What are plate mounted axial fans used for?

S&P plate mounted axial fans are designed to move large volumes of air for ventilation, extraction and cooling applications. They are commonly installed in external walls, partitions or panels in commercial and industrial buildings, making them ideal for warehouses, workshops, factories, plant rooms and agricultural environments.

How do I choose the right size plate mounted axial fan?

The correct fan size depends on the airflow required, the size of the space being ventilated and the mounting opening available. Consider the required air changes per hour (ACH), duct or wall opening dimensions and electrical supply before selecting a fan.

Are S&P plate mounted axial fans speed controllable?

Yes. The S&P range we offer can be speed controlled using a compatible fan speed controller. The required controller size depends on the specific fan model, with larger diameter fans requiring higher-rated controllers. If you are unsure which speed controller is required please contact our team and we will be happy to help. We can supply 3 phase options with suitable invertors upon request.

Are the S&P plate mounted axial fans designed to be installed inline in ductwork?

No. The S&P range is designed for plate-mounted installations through walls, panels or openings and is not intended for direct inline duct installation as they do not come with a spigot to attach to ductowrk. For ducted ventilation systems, an inline-rated S&P fan should be selected to ensure correct airflow performance and safe operation.

Are S&P plate mounted axial fans ATEX rated?

No. The S&P plate mounted axial fan range we sell are not ATEX certified and should not be installed in hazardous or potentially explosive environments. For areas requiring ATEX compliance, a specifically certified ATEX-rated fan should be selected (which we do not supply).

Do you offer other S&P Plate Mounted Axial Fan fan sizes or models, including 3-phase versions?

Yes. The S&P plate mounted axial fan range is available in a variety of sizes to suit different airflow requirements. Other S&P axial fan models and configurations, including larger capacity units and 3-phase options for certain applications, may also be available. If you require a specific airflow, voltage, duty point, or installation type, contact our technical team and we can help identify the most suitable S&P fan for your requirements and quote accordingly.

Can S&P Plate Mounted Axial Fans be installed outside?

These are not deisgned for outside installation. S&P Plate Mounted Axial Fans can only be installed outside when they are properly protected from direct exposure to rain, snow, and harsh weather conditions. These fans are generally designed for indoor or sheltered ventilation applications, so an external installation may require a weatherproof enclosure, canopy, or suitable protection to prevent moisture damage and maintain reliable performance. These models do come with Corrosion resistance Mmounting plate, motorsupport and fingerproof guard protected by cataforesis primerand black polyesterpaint finish and stainless steel screws.

Always check the manufacturer’s specifications and installation guidance before fitting an axial fan outdoors.
